17 Feb Wild Game All-American Burgers
So wild game gets a bad wrap or tasting “gamey”, which they also equate with an unappetizing flavor. But does wild game meat taste bad? No. If cooked properly it can taste absolutely delectable. Here is a recipe to make and cook deer and elk burger that is amazing.
These are absolutely the best burgers I have ever had!
Ingredients
2 pounds freshly ground wild game meat, (at least 80% lean, 80/20)
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Directions
In a bowl, cake pan or any container, mix ground wild game meat, onion powder, salt and pepper until just combined. Do not over mix.
If you are making stuffed burgers with a stuffed burger press, use the burger quantity appropriate for your burger press. If you are making normal burgers, divide into 4-6 portions depending on how big you like your burger patties and form patties, without pressing too hard. Make sure they are uniform in thickness. When ready to cook, preheat your wood pellet grill or BBQ to 325 degrees F.
Place burgers on the grill for 15 minutes on each side. If desired, top each burger with slice of Cheddar cheese, let melt. Remove from grill and let rest for 10 minutes under tinfoil.
Garnish as desired and serve.
